Granite Floor Tile

There are many reasons to choose granite floor tile over other types. Selected for its durability, strength, and good looks, this type of material is truly magnificent.

If you have ever had the pleasure of visiting Europe, you may have come across some ancient castles that were strewn with large natural floors. Most of the time, these floors consist of granite floor tile. If you think about it, those castles have stood through wars, kings, queens, endless battles, and lots of stormy weather, yet the flooring still remains intact and flawless. How can this be possible? Since it’s a natural material, this type of flooring will last as long as the trees in the forest do (if not longer).

Additionally, when you decide to place this type of natural material in your home, you will also be doing the environment a favour. Since there is literally no waste involved when this type of rock is excavated, you won’t be ruining any type of natural habitat. Unlike harvesting wood, there is no damage done when this material is taken from the earth. In fact, large pieces of this material are cut into slabs and tiles, while small piece are used to create foundations, pillars, and walls.

You will also be happy to know that granite floor tile is relatively inexpensive, though it does have an impressive appearance. For a classic look, select one that is dark in color (grey or black). If you prefer something a bit more modern, choose some tiles that are colored (you can find lots of different colors these days). Or, if you prefer, mix and match the type types to really make a hallway or entryway stand out. The one thing that you should pay attention to is the actual width of the rock itself (this can vary), though this will depend upon the amount of traffic that you anticipate inside of the space.

So, as you can see, there is really no losing when it comes to this type of floor. If you are worried that this type of material may be cold under foot (and it can be) simply install some type of heating mat prior to installing the tiles.

If you want something that will last for a long time, granite floor tile is the way to go. Simply pay attention to those installation instructions, and soon you will see that you have made the right choice.
